Mountain Immersion reimagines ikebana as a dynamic stage performance. Inspired by modern theater, this experimental art form fuses floral installations, contemporary dance, projection mapping, and live music to create a dialogue between tradition and innovation. At its heart lies Ohtani’s aquatic masterpiece—a first-of-its-kind in China—where dancers wade through petal-strewn waters beneath the resort’s iconic Ming-style dougong dome.
“Translating The Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains—Huang Gongwang’s timeless ink painting—into living art is profoundly challenging,” shares Ohtani, creator of 174 floral designs for the hit Japanese drama 『高嶺の花』（たかねのはな）. To reinterpret the scroll’s flowing landscapes through drifting cherry blossoms, golden jasmine petals, and choreographed “brushstrokes” of branches and leaves.
