Nestled in Hangzhou’s poetic landscape, Fuchun Resort carries an extraordinary floral DNA. Here, the art of ikebana transcends tradition, revealing the innate beauty of natural materials through a uniquely Eastern aesthetic philosophy. Crafted by the resort’s resident floral team under the guidance of Ling Zongyong, an internationally acclaimed floral artist, this sanctuary celebrates nature’s rhythm. Last year, their collaborative Spring Equinox Tea Ceremony transformed the resort into a blooming wonderland—a prelude to this April’s grander spectacle.

As spring deepens, Fuchun Resort prepares to unveil an immersive floral theater: “Mountain Immersion”. This multisensory journey—where tea aromas, rustling leaves, cicada songs, and timeless elegance converge—invites guests to slow down and savor seasonal poetry. Partnering with Kado Universe, a cultural innovator redefining floral artistry beyond traditional schools, the resort will host a groundbreaking performance blending Ikebana, dance, light, and architecture—a feast for the senses led by Ohtani Mika , Japan’s avant-garde floral virtuoso.

The Art of Living: Ikebana Meets Immersive Theater

Mountain Immersion reimagines ikebana as a dynamic stage performance. Inspired by modern theater, this experimental art form fuses floral installations, contemporary dance, projection mapping, and live music to create a dialogue between tradition and innovation. At its heart lies Ohtani’s aquatic masterpiece—a first-of-its-kind in China—where dancers wade through petal-strewn waters beneath the resort’s iconic Ming-style dougong dome.

“Translating The Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains—Huang Gongwang’s timeless ink painting—into living art is profoundly challenging,” shares Ohtani, creator of 174 floral designs for the hit Japanese drama 『高嶺の花』(たかねのはな). To reinterpret the scroll’s flowing landscapes through drifting cherry blossoms, golden jasmine petals, and choreographed “brushstrokes” of branches and leaves.

Where Heritage Meets Modernity

The performance unfolds at Fuchun Resort Golf & Spa, a sanctuary harmonizing with Huang Gongwang’s masterpiece. As dusk falls, the poolside theater becomes a canvas: dancers ripple through ink-dark waters, while light and shadow play across the resort’s timber-framed architecture. Post-performance, guests indulge in a floral-inspired dinner, where tablescapes merge culinary and botanical artistry.

Kado Universe, advocating “the way of flowers is the way of life,” bridges Eastern philosophy and global creativity. This collaboration epitomizes their mission—to rekindle humanity’s bond with nature through boundary-pushing expressions.
