Dunhuang, known as Shazhou in ancient times, is located in the desert Gobi in the northwest of Gansu Province,China,at the westernmost point of the Hexi Corridor. Dunhuang entered its heyday with the opening of the Silk Road during the Han Dynasty, and was a transportation fortress between the Central Plains Dynasty and the Western regions as well as Central Asia and West Asia.

Dunhuang not only has mysterious and magnificent natural scenery, such as The Singing Sands Mountain Crescent Spring, Yadan National Geopark, etc., but also has the World cultural heritage Mogao Grottoes and Jade Gate Pass, as well as Yangguan Pass Ruins, West Thousand Budda Caves, Yulin Grottoes in Guazhou, Lei Yin Temple and many other scenic spots and historic sites.

JANGALA DUNHUANG is an SLH brand five-star boutique hotel with a global vision. Dunhuang is chia’s best-know cultural mecca, inheriting thousands of years of Silk Road cultural heritage.

JANGALA DUNHUANG is located at No. 12999 Jing’guan Avenue, Dunhuang City, Gansu Province. It sits in front of the Mingsha Mountain and right next to the hundreds of acres of vineyards of Qili Town.

As the first ultra-luxury standard design hotel in Dunhuang, Jangala covers an area of 10,000 square meters, with 25 rooms and suites of various styles.

The hotel also has an all-day dining restaurant, a Dunhuang’s first world-class bar, a theatre with water landscape, a meditation space, a vineyard, and a desert camp.

The Living Room

The Living Room is beyond a lobby, coupled with an immersive art gallery, and an art exhibition space.

Sky light is introduced through the specially designed Tic-Tac-Bean roof of the Living Room, connecting guests with the beauty of nature.

Silk & Spice Restaurant

It has two-seater and four-seater dining tables both indoors and outdoors, serving up to 50 guests at a time. The restaurant also has a 10-person deluxe private room, which offers private and exclusive catering service.

Mirage Bar

Mirage Bar which takes up two floors of the hotel is the most professional luxury hotel bar in Dunhuang and Gansu.

The Bar serves a variety of wines, champagnes, and liquors, including cocktails inspired by Silk Road’s thousands of years of history and the unique culture of Northwest China.

The bar is composed of a bar area, second floor seating, rooftop and outdoor waterscape. Guests can enjoy their vacation by taking in the unique landscape of desert and water while appreciating the charming sunset.

Mirage Bar offers coffee throughout the day as well as Western and Chinese teas, beverages, and afternoon tea.

Mirage Bar Rooftop

The 360m2 rooftop space allows one to take in the unique landscape of desert and water while appreciating the charming sunset. The space is suitable for holding private events and cocktail parties.

The Rooftop space can hold runway shows and conferences for up to 60 people, and facilities such as catwalks, stages and screens can be set up as required. For small and medium-sized banquets, the Rooftop is an excellent choice as it can hold either long tables with 60 seats or Chinese food-style tables for 40 people.

Jangala Theatre

Located at the heart of the hotel with a total area of 218, including a stepped seating that can seat up to 70 people and a water surface stage with an

Jangala Theatre can be equipped with professional audiovisual devices with various

functions and can be fully customized and decorated as requested. It is a perfect

choice for all kinds of performances, speeches, conferences and events.

Meditation Space

The 35 Meditation Room has a skylights that lets in natural light, forming a stark contrast with the overall dark space. The natural light makes the space serene and sacred. In addition to being a venue for daily meditation activities, it can be used to hold small private conferences or weddings.

Oasis Vineyard

The hotel vineyard covers an area of 13, 000 and is planted with a wide variety of table grapes. During the summer, the vineyards becomes lush green, like a cool oasis in the vast desert.

Climate

Dunhuang is situated amidst the desert oasis in the northwest part of Gansu Province, with higher elevations to the north and south and lower elevations in the middle, averaging at 1139 meters above sea level. It experiences a typical temperate continental climate, characterized by aridness, sparse rainfall, abundant sunlight, and intense ultraviolet radiation. The average annual temperature is 9.9o C, with an annual precipitation of only 42.2 millimeters (evaporation of 505 millimeters).

During spring and autumn (March to May, September to November), there are significant temperature differences between day and night, often accompanied by windy and sandy weather. Daytime temperatures reach around 20o C, while nighttime temperatures can drop to 10o C, highly recommended to adjust clothing accordantly.

Summer (June to August) is hot and dry, with daytime temperatures soaring up to 40o C and nighttime temperatures dropping to around 15o C. it’s advisable to wear lightweight summer clothing during the day, while also taking precautions against heatstroke and sunburn. Additionally, prepare long-sleeved outerwear to prevent getting clod at night.

Winter (December to February) brings cold temperatures, with lows dropping to -20o C. it’s recommended to wear heavy winter clothing such as jackets to stay warm and protect against the cold.
