Learn about China’s different plugs, voltage, and frequencies
The voltage used throughout China is uniformly 220 volts, A.C., with a standard frequency of 50 Hertz nationwide. Certain types of electrical appliances, such as dual-voltage hair dryers, travel irons, and shavers, can be used in most parts of China without issues. However, for devices that do not support 220 volts, a step-down transformer may be required to convert the voltage.
If you need to charge your devices while traveling, many high-speed train (bullet train) models in China are equipped with power outlets near the window seats. When purchasing your ticket, you can request a seat with an outlet. Additionally, some fast-food chains, coffee shops, and family restaurants in China also provide power outlets for customers to use.
