Spring has arrived, and Beijing’s most enchanting seasonal spectacle is back!

All Aboard the “Blossom Express”

Dubbed the “Train to Spring,” the suburban S2 Railway transforms into a moving masterpiece every March and April, carving through misty valleys blanketed in peach and apricot blossoms. This year, the iconic train debuts a refreshed livery—crisper hues and bold floral motifs inspired by the very landscapes it traverses. Ready to chase this petal-strewn dream? Let’s go!

Why the S2 Line?

As China’s first suburban rail route, the 108.3-km S2 line winds from Huangtudian Station through rugged alpine scenery, passing historic sites like the Great Wall before reaching Yanqing or Huailai (Hebei). Its poetic journey through blossom-clad mountains has earned it viral fame—and this spring, it’s more Instagram-worthy than ever.

3 Must-Visit Stops for Your Floral Escape

Juyongguan Flower Valley Walkway: A Photographer’s Paradise

March 24 – April 21 | 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Perched beside the tracks and ascending to panoramic viewpoints, this newly enhanced walkway offers front-row seats to the S2 train snaking through a Technicolor sea of blooms. Pro tip: Arrive early to capture the golden-hour glow on both petals and ancient fortress walls.

Getting There:

Drive to Juyongguan Parking Lot 2, then walk 10 mins.

Bus 879 (last ride 4 PM) or Chang 20 (last ride 7 PM) to Juyongguan Village, then hike 1.1-2 km.

Clamber onto this Ming Dynasty relic near Badaling, peer through its weathered battlements, and watch the S2 train emerge like a scarlet ribbon against a backdrop of frothy pink blossoms. The distant whistle echoing through the valley? Pure magic.

Getting There:

Drive via Jingzang Highway to Shuiguan exit.

Alight at Badaling Station via S2, then taxi 8 mins (or brave the 4-km hike).

Step off the S2 directly into a floral wonderland! A leisurely 1-km stroll from the station leads to ticket counters for both the Great Wall and its scenic cable car—perfect for pairing cultural exploration with blossom chasing.

Your Spring Adventure Awaits!

This is no ordinary train ride—it’s a fleeting seasonal sonnet penned by nature. Whether you’re a shutterbug, a history buff, or simply craving awe-inspiring vistas, the S2 delivers. With limited bloom windows and revamped trains turning heads, now is the moment to join the floral pilgrimage.

Plan Your Trip:

  • Tickets: Book S2 rides via Beijing Suburban Railway’s official platforms.
  • Timing: Weekday visits recommended to avoid crowds.
  • Pack: Layers (mountain temps vary!), sturdy shoes, and your camera.

Don’t just scroll—live the viral moment. The flowers won’t wait! 🌸🚞
