The summer months (June to October) are significantly hotter, incredibly humid, and mark the rainy/typhoon season, though showers are often brief and intense, quickly giving way to sunshine.

Transportation

Getting around Sanya is relatively easy, though the city is spread out along the coastline. The Sanya Tram is a modern, scenic way to travel through the downtown core. For exploring the various bays (Sanya Bay, Dadonghai, Yalong Bay, Haitang Bay), a robust network of public buses and abundant taxis/ride-hailing cars are available. However, given the sprawling nature of the island, renting a car is highly recommended if you plan to explore the rainforests, the Nanshan Temple, or venture further up the Hainan coast.
